Heartly House offers both individual and group counseling to children and adults as well as survivors and secondary survivors. Free and confidential, our counseling is provided by trauma informed, licensed clinicians. The counseling department also offers learning experiences for masters-level counseling and social work students.

EMDR G-TEP (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing Group – Traumatic Events Protocol
When: TBD. The group is currently on hold but will resume as soon as sufficient interest is expressed.
Description: This is a 4-week in-person group focused on building grounding skills for stabilization and individually processing trauma through guided instruction by an EMDR-trained clinician. During processing, participants are not required or encouraged to discuss details of their traumatic events with the group in order to avoid cross traumatization of group members. This is an amazing opportunity to experience the healing power of EMDR in a safe group setting.

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Women’s Support Group
When: Mondays from 1:00-2:15pm
Description: This is an open and ongoing group for women who have experienced or are currently experiencing intimate partner abuse in any form – emotional, physical, psychological, etc. It provides a trauma-informed, nonjudgmental environment for participants to share their experiences related to IPV, give and receive support, and discuss topics related to safety, healing, and healthy relationships.

Intimate Partner Violence (IPV) Men’s Support Group
When: Every other Wednesday (virtually) from 7:00-8:15pm.
Description: This is an open, rolling-admission group for men who experienced or are experiencing intimate partner violence from their female partners. It offers a safe space to receive support from other men in similar situations, freely share their experiences about IPV, and feel heard and empowered. It is a judgment-free and trauma-informed space to discuss relevant topics related to IPV, such as safety, healing, and healthy relationships.

Parent Empowerment Group
When: TBD. There will be two in-person evening sessions at the end of the group for the EMDR portion. The group is currently on hold but will resume as soon as sufficient interest is expressed.
Description: This is a 10-week parenting group focused on learning about the neurodevelopment of the child and adolescent brain, developing effective positive parenting skills to manage difficult behaviors, and empowering and resourcing parents to feel confident as they help their children grow. It integrates EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization & Reprocessing) to help parents develop and strengthen adaptive neurology around their parenting practices. Appropriate for parents with kids 17 years and younger.

SELF
When: Tuesdays 1:00-2:15pm
Description: This is an open support group for women who have experienced any form of sexual assault or sexual abuse. The group offers a safe and supportive space to share experiences, build connections, and foster healing. Discussions are guided by the principles of the SELF framework (Safety, Emotions, Loss, and Future), to help members explore their healing journey at their own pace, while focusing on emotional support and mutual empowerment rather than a structured curriculum.

Healing Pride
When: Every other Tuesday from 6:45 – 7:45pm
This group is currently accepting new group members.
Description: This is a open, rolling-admission group for LGBTQIA+ identifying adult survivors of intimate partner violence and/or sexual assault or abuse. The group incorporates education about trauma, skill-building to manage trauma symptoms, and processing trauma in an affirming environment

Untamed (6-week Anger Group)
When: Wednesdays from 6:15-7:30pm, in-person, starting September 30th and ending November 4th
Description: This is a safe anger expression, regulation, and healing group. This trauma-informed group is designed for women who are survivors of interpersonal violence and sexual assault. Through psychoeducation, body-based practices, and coping skills, participants will learn healthy ways to express and regulate anger, strengthen emotional resilience, build healthy boundaries, and support their healing in a safe, empowering, and supportive environment.

Beyond Trauma
When: Thursdays from 12:00-1:15pm. The group is currently on hold but will resume as soon as sufficient interest is

Description: This is a closed group for adult survivors of childhood trauma experiences and/or intimate partner violence and sexual assault/abuse. The group utilizes a highly organized and structured group content that incorporates education about trauma, the neuroscience related to trauma/PTSD, and deeper understanding into the impacts of trauma in a small and confidential setting.

Seeking Safety (Women’s Group)
When: Every other Thursday (virtually) from 12-1:15pm. The group is currently on hold but will resume as soon as sufficient interest is expressed.
Description: This is an open, rolling-admission group for female survivors of trauma and substance use. This group is also appropriate for survivors who may think substance use is a factor in their life. Seeking Safety is a judgment-free and trauma-informed space to discuss relevant topics related to trauma and substance use, such as healthy coping skills, managing trauma symptoms, coping without substances, cultivating safe and supportive relationships, and how to feel good about yourself

Male Sexual Assault Survivor Group

Processing Beyond Trauma
When: Thursdays from 12:00-1:15pm
Description: The group is only open to clients who have completed a full cycle of Beyond Trauma.
This group is a continuation of the Beyond Trauma support group. This group is focused on trauma processing and giving/receiving support amongst group members.

STAIR
When: TBD. This workshop is currently on hold but will resume as soon as sufficient interest is expressed.
Description: This is a one-time workshop that aims to increase awareness, understanding, and regulation of emotions, and will include strategies that focus on the body, thoughts, and behaviors. The workshop will also explore interpersonal skills to support each survivor’s relationships with others. The session is limited to 6 participants.

Shelter Support Group
When: Wednesdays (in-person) from 5-6pm (based on client interest)
Description: This is an open, drop-in support group for CURRENT Shelter residents, offering a safe, welcoming
space to connect with others, receive emotional support, and explore topics related to healing, coping, and resilience. Participants are invited to share experiences, build community, and learn practical strategies for navigating the challenges of this transitional period in a confidential and trauma-informed environment.

The Creative Bridge (Expressive Group)
When: Wednesday, July 29th from 6:30-8pm in-person
Description: Join us for a supportive workshop focused on exploring emotions and building coping skills through creative interventions like collages, painting, sand tray work, and more. Designed for individuals impacted by any form of violence, this group integrates psychoeducation with hands-on activities to foster healing and resilience.

Circle of Security
When: TBD. The group start date and format (in-person or via Zoom) will be contingent on client interest. Group sessions will be up to 2 hours.
Description: This is an 8-10 week group to help parents and caregivers understand and connect with their children and build healthy relationships. Participants must be committed to consistent attendance, as concepts build throughout the curriculum.

Corazon de Mujer
When: 1st and 3rd Wednesday of the month from 6:30-7:45pm. This group is currently on hold but will resume as soon as sufficient interest is expressed.
Description: “Corazon de Mujer” is an open support group for survivors of trauma. It aims to help women connect and build supportive relationships while discussing common experiences. During our small group sessions, you will learn about coping mechanisms, remember your strengths, listen to other women’s experiences, and share your own (if you wish), and you will be accepted for who you are, without judgment or discrimination. The support group will focus on reflection, tips to manage anxiety, depression, stress, isolation and give us the opportunity to improve each day using coping skills.
“Corazón de Mujer” es un grupo abierto de apoyo para sobrevivientes de trauma. Tiene como objetivo ayudar a las mujeres a conectarse y construir relaciones de apoyo mientras discuten experiencias comunes. Durante nuestras sesiones íntimas en grupo, aprenderás sobre los mecanismos de adaptación, recordarás tus puntos fuertes, escucharás las experiencias de otras mujeres y compartirás las tuyas (si lo deseas), sin juzgar y sin discriminación. El grupo de apoyo se centrará en la reflexión, consejos para manejar la ansiedad, la depresión, el estrés, el aislamiento y la oportunidad de mejorar cada día utilizando habilidades de afrontamiento.
