The goal of the Heartly House Coronavirus Initial Response Plan is to protect the health of clients, staff, volunteers, and the community by reducing access to Heartly House properties.
Hotline and Emergency Shelter will remain in operation throughout the duration of this event. If you are in crisis or have questions about our services, please call 301-662-8800.
If you are experiencing an emergency, please call 9-1-1.
From March 17-27, Heartly House buildings will be closed to visitors, including non-shelter clients, vendors, donors, etc.
Victims can file with the Commissioner and Court for Protective Orders as normal.
Clients scheduled for an onsite appointment during this time should not come to the location. Call Hotline for support or with questions.
- Regarding Legal Services: We will not be meeting clients in person other than at Court. We will reassess as the COVID-19 outbreak continues, whether there is a need to institute a suspension of representation services. If we cannot represent you, we will provide you with referrals and we can also complete a full intake, which includes collecting evidence and court pleadings, in order to provide you with detailed advice on how to prepare your own case for a court hearing.
- Regarding Clinical (Counseling) Services: All group and individual counseling sessions are canceled. Counselors are attempting to provide telephone counseling to clients. AIP services will also be offered via the telephone.
- At this time, Medical Accompaniment Advocates will be available to accompany Intimate Partner Violence and Sexual Assault victims to the hospital should they need to receive a forensic exam. This service will be re-evaluated as the outbreak continues.
- All Outreach, Youth, and Community events are postponed until further notice. The Cottage Series classes for March and April have been canceled.
