Safety is a phone call away.
No one should be forced to stay in a dangerous situation. Our Emergency Shelter is here for anyone who is in danger of intimate partner violence or human trafficking–regardless of gender, sexual orientation, race, or socioeconomic status.
Each year, Heartly House provides emergency shelter to more than 100 adults and children in Frederick County. Private bedrooms and a shared living, dining, and children’s play area can accommodate up to seven families at once.
Requests for emergency shelter can be made at any time by calling the 24-Hour Hotline at 301-662-8800.
How can we help?
A shelter staff member will be available to help 24 hours a day to provide emotional support, education, safety planning, community referrals, and mediate communal living concerns. All shelter staff members are trained in crisis intervention, case management, and trauma-informed care. In addition, Heartly House Service Coordinators can help you however you may need, whether it’s regarding housing, education, employment, childcare, budgeting, transportation, or health.
Anyone requesting shelter is offered phone and/or in-person appointments to ask questions, learn about the program, and make safe arrangements.
